Training Opportunities
To provide a high quality service we recognise the importance of all staff to develop and maintain the skills necessary to meet their responsibilities. We facilitate this by providing planned and systematic training as part of our Human Resource Development strategy.
Your role is to consider and plan, with your manager your development and to take advantage of the opportunities provided to improve your skills and knowledge to help provide a better service.
All staff will have the opportunity to attend staff development and training depending on their particular needs as assessed through preparation for NVQ assessment and according to organisational priorities and objectives. Safe working practices will be supported by access to supervision and training: regular Health & Safety updates, Fire Safety courses, Moving & Handling courses, places on COSHH training as needed. All staff induction and training completed and training needs identified by your manager will be recorded on the Human Resources Management Information System database.
Home Care Assistants
All new staff will undertake a induction programme during their first month of employment. This will be checked against an induction record and inlcude:
- Introduction to ACRC Care (structure, policies/procedures, aims/objectives)
- Core Values & Working Practices
- Health & Safety
- Manual Handling
- New staff will be given a Care Handbook
Staff development will integrate NVQ:
- All training provided will be competency-based and outcome related
- Staff will have access to a programme of workshops around aspects of personal care linked to NVQ Awards.
